For the past 10 years, Smith Academy for Excellence has provided urban young people with a highly personalized education and specialized training that they may not otherwise have access to. The academy was founded in 2012 by Thomas, Corey and Cameron Smith. Together, this father and son team has nearly 70 years of experience as educators, most of which have been spent serving youth from the south side of Fort Wayne. Through the focused pursuit of excellence in education, character building and community service, this holistic program is purposed to prepare our youth to maximize their potential individually and collectively and to be leaders of consequence in their community. Because of the success of the academy, we will be relocating to a permanent facility that is readily accessible to our students, holds potential for increased capacity and is positioned for increased impact.
We believe the greatest impact we can have in revitalizing our communities is through our children. Help make an impact in Southeast Fort Wayne and beyond by supporting the Expanding Excellence Campaign.
Corey, Thomas and Cameron Smith
Since 2012, Smith Academy has educated hundreds of young men. The school currently serves grades 4-12 and has been graduating seniors since 2016. The school focuses on post-secondary preparation and community service.
The leadership at Smith Academy holds the financial health of the organization as a top priority. The academy is proud to have always operated in the black, never taken on debt and purchased the new property outright, without borrowing money.
