A primary goal at Smith Academy is to help equip our scholars and their families to build meaningful legacies as individuals, families and a community. We are encouraged by the generational impact we see starting with co-founder, Thomas Smith, and moving down through the generations to our scholars and beyond!

Aubrey Griggs Sportsmanship Award
Aubrey Griggs is a 2016 graduate and former basketball player at Smith Academy. The Aubrey Griggs Sportsmanship Award has been established in his honor. This award is given to an outstanding athlete who demonstrates the values of leadership and character that Smith Academy stands for, and who displays sportsmanship both on and off the court.

Beginning in 2021-2022, the annual “Pack the Gym” basketball game was re-named the “Dick Conn Pack the Gym Game” in memory of an outstanding Smith Academy basketball supporter and good friend of Aubrey’s. At the inaugural Dick Conn Pack the Gym Game, Griggs presented School Leader, Corey Smith, with his Indiana Classic All-Star Game jersey which is now on display at Smith Academy. The jersey held additional sentimental value being presented at the Dick Conn Pack the Gym Game as it was the last jersey that Mr. Conn saw Griggs play basketball in.
Smith Academy is thankful for Mr. Conn and proud of Aubrey’s example and contribution to the school and the community.
